Rod Payne

Pastor of Missions & Media

Rod Payne has served as Pastor of Missions and Media at FBCWF since the summer of 1987, marking 38 years of faithful ministry. His call to full-time ministry came in 1984 while serving part-time at a church in Oklahoma and working full-time in secular media. That same year, he and his wife, Vicky, followed God’s leading to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where Rod earned his Master’s Degree in Communication in 1987. During seminary, they served as house parents at a children’s home, and Rod joined FBCWF staff in his final semester. His favorite verse is Romans 11:29—“God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable”—a reminder that no trial can hinder God's plan. Rod has been married to his high school sweetheart, Vicky, for nearly 50 years, and they are blessed with three children and (by fall 2025) six grandchildren, most of whom live nearby. Outside of ministry, Rod enjoys spending time with Vicky, playing music, staying active, and being with his grandkids. Fun fact: he and Vicky met in high school while performing in a play. Rod loves serving at FBCWF because of its rich history of Kingdom work and the church’s deep commitment to the Great Commission, community, and worship.
