Welcome to Celebrate Recovery FBC! PurposeThe purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to encourage fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power in our lives as we work toward the road to recovery. By working the steps and applying Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually and eventually become free from our hurts, hang-ups and habits. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with others and our loving and forgiving Higher Power, Jesus Christ. The Bible states “all have sinned”. This means each of us needs repentance and recovery in order to live our lives the way God intended. The good news is regardless of the problem, whether it’s emotional, financial, relational, spiritual or sexual, the steps to recovery are always the same. Celebrate Recovery is a biblical program based on 8 principles that Christ taught in his message from the Sermon on the Mount. There are only two things needed for someone to start recovery . . . * a desire to stop living in the past * a desire to start living in the truth As we work through the Christ based 12 steps, we become willing to accept God’s grace and forgiveness in solving our life’s problems. In Celebrate Recovery our identities are not in our past behaviors. We are believers recovering in Christ who struggle with past hurts and habits. The program is short term (one to two years depending on the individual). We cannot keep what we have unless we give it away, therefore, the ultimate goal is to produce purpose driven disciples that take the message of recovery in Christ to those who still suffer. Important Information Celebrate Recovery Small Groups can provide a safe place to share experiences, strengths and hopes with others who are going through the "Principles" in a Christ-Centered recovery. Small Groups can also provide a leader who has gone through a similar hurt, hang-up or habit that will facilitate the group as it focuses on a particular Step each week. The leader will also keep Celebrate Recovery's "FIVE RULES" as well as offer the opportunity to find an accountability partner or sponsor. We encourage you to attend other recovery meetings held throughout the week. Celebrate Recovery Small Groups will not attempt to offer any professional clinical advice. Our leaders are not counselors, but we will provide you with a list of approved counseling referrals. Small Groups Celebrate Recovery small groups offer support and encouragement to anyone seeking freedom and wholeness in Christ as the one and only Higher Power. Small groups meet weekly and include individuals of the same gender who are struggling with a similar hurt, habit or hang up. Groups are led by trained facilitators and offer a safe place for men and women to be honest about areas where they are hurting or experiencing defeat. Anonymity and confidentiality are basic requirements of the group. Individuals who participate in Celebrate Recovery support groups will gain new insights, find freedom from addictive and compulsive behaviors and develop skills for building healthier relationships with themselves, with God and with others. The "FIVE RULES" 1. Keep sharing focused on your own thoughts and feelings. 2. Each person is free to express feelings without interruption. No cross talk please. 3. We are here to support one another. We will not attempt to "fix" another. 4. Anonymity and confidentiality are basic requirements. What is shared in the group stays in the group. 5. Offensive language has no place in a Christ-centered group. If you would like to contact us by phone, please call the main church office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. M-F. 940.723.2764.
