Each summer the FBC Library offers a six week Summer Reading Club for kids ages 3 (Read to Me) – Grade 6. Every child who reads 15 books receives a certificate. Prizes are given to all the participants at the awards party and special recognition is given to the top readers in each age division. Over seventy-five children signed up to read in the Reading is a Ball Summer Reading Club 2007. Sixty-one children turned in their reading logs and read over 2,503 books! Fifty-six children read fifteen books or more & received certificates and forty three children read enough books to have a book placed in their honor in the FBC library. Congratulations to these readers! Numerous studies have shown that summer reading programs help children retain reading skills over the summer break.
